NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Exam Details

You'll need to register with e-Careers before you can take your examination. Once registered, we'll send you an Examination Entry Confirmation, which includes your unique learner number and essential examination information and results process. Please make sure you check that all your details are spelt correctly.

Your Examination Entry Confirmation is essential for you to gain entry to the examination room, and photographic identification will need to be shown to the exam invigilator, so please make sure you bring either your driving licences or passport with you, as proof.

Examination results

Results for assessments taken in English should be received within 50-working days from your examination or assignment submission date. The specific date will appear on your examination entry confirmation.


Unit NG1:

  •  Assessment Type: Question paper
  •  Assessment Time: 2 hours

Unit NG2:

  •  Assessment Type: Practical assessment
  •  Assessment Time: 3 hours

Pass standards

  •  Unit NG1: 45 marks
  •  Unit NG2: The minimum standard required for a Unit NG2 ‘Pass’ can be found on page 8 of the NG2 Guidance for Learning Partners and Learners
  •  A ‘Pass’ must be achieved in both units to achieve the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Qualification grades

  •  Distinction: 75 marks or higher
  •  Credit: 65 - 74 marks
  •  Pass: 45 - 64 marks
